Mercedes Allsop is the Administrative Assistant to the Dean’s Office at the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University, where she provides executive level support to the Dean.
Before joining Mason, Mercedes served as a Marine for 20 years where she held positions as a Recruiting Station Supervisor, Internal Controls Audit Chief and Lead Finance Auditor. Mercedes also spent time in the Middle East working with civil affairs groups and local residents in the Fallujah, Ramadi, Mahmuhdiyah, and Taqaddum provinces.
As a federal employee at the Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Center in Quantico, Virginia, where she served as the was the agency’s first Division Internal Controls Manager. She also held positions as the agency’s Fiscal Chief and Program of Memorandum (POM) Analyst.
Most recently, Mercedes landed at a local non-profit organization as an Executive Assistant and Administration and Events Director. During her tenure, she provided executive level support to the CEO. She also developed and implemented programs that helped improve the quality of life of residents in the DC Metro area and in the East Africa region of Kenya.
